Run training

I keep reading about how to improve my run time. The general advice is to do interval training and also do some hill running.

So I ran up a Munro (3000ft hill), slowing down only at the bits that were too steep to run up.

The average hill walker now thinks I'm totally nuts, but it's amazing for improving my aerobic fitness. Also, it's quicker than walking.

Current weight is up a little from drinking too much booze. It'll be back down in a day or two.

Watch yer bloody knees! Tweaked mine again running on the flat, never mind up hills.
Which Munro was it guessing Ben Vorlich - good effort, like.
Thought you'd have knocked the booze on the heid for training??
Hoping to see you on the 14th if you have not shrunk away to a skelf by then....will be in touch.

PS went for a batter up Ben A'an on Sunday. That would be a good hill to run. Good path and car to summit only 45 at a fast walk.

My knees haven't really been used for 10 years, other than to lever myself closer to the fridge, so they can cope with a bit of wear and tear.

It was Ben Chonzie from Invergeldie and took about 1 hour 50 mins up and down. I'm looking for another to do this Saturday, but the wee Ben A'an will make me dizzy as I'll have to go up and down three times. I still can't believe I'm saying these things; the whole thing is hysterical.

The reason I want a biggie to do is this will be my last major training before "The Event" and after last Sunday's outing, I've knocked another 1 minute 6 seconds off my 5k time. Unbelievable.

As for the booze, well there's not been an awful lot of "laying off". In fact, this entire blog could all just be an binge fuelled story and I'll turn up on the 14th and eat all the sausages as normal.
